End of another year!

I have a coffee.

2021 is nearly over and we’re 5 days deep into our Advent calendars already! Where has the year gone?

What’s the theme of this one then? No idea. These things are tricky to write. I usually write is about you, or your ideas and your day. You are the stars of the show, as I often quip, not I, so these things often feel like an ego-trip which isn’t kool. Who wants to read dull updates on the life of a photographer? I bore myself, let alone subject you to wasting 5mins reading some caffeine fuelled ramblings.

But I have to write something! So I sit here as usual, with a cup of coffee to my left, hoping that words will tumble out of my brain. My internal monolog waffling on and I’m trying desperately hard to not let it wander off on some tangent about watching the latest DUNE movie, and how blown away I was by it, or on looking forward to the new Matrix movie out this month, and whatever happened to the Avatar sequel that was postponed to this Christmas. Like, where is that film then?

Oooo, biscuit…

See what I mean?

Updates…

I’m a Director for the MPA. Yeah, proper adulty stuff. There’s some dull news if ever I’ve read.

“What’s the MPA?” I [don’t] hear you ask? Well, *cracks knuckles, the MPA or Master Photographer Association is one of the 2 leading photographic associations/societies in the UK (and with international members) and apart from heading up the wedding team, I’m now on the Board of Directors- actual grown up s**t!! Yeah, okay I balance that grown up s**t with SUCH3 (me and my 2 Suchlings) seemingly spending an unusually large amount of spare time skating in the evenings and weekends when I’m not busy shooting/editing, which is totally rad, but maaaan re-learning skatepark ramps after quite a few years off is rather different to chilling to an epic movie through an unnecessarily loud sound system. The things we do for the ‘kids’eh…

Director stuff is pretty awesome, as is running the wedding team, but jeeez, they take up some time! Add in shooting the epic weddings I have this year, the location shoots, editing properly as I always do, and designing albums, and maaaan, my weeks fly by. Hence it’s the beginning of December already! So yeah, got qualified properly, won a couple of awards for wedding photographer, head up the wedding team for the MPA, helped create an amazing certification scheme for wedding photographers, and on the board of directors.. all within 18 months! The next 18 months is going to be different too, as I’m currently working on a completely new wedding thing, but not fully developed that yet, so I’ll hold fire on chatting too much about it and will save it for January ramblings (must get my skates on for that!!)

What about you?

I know everyone has been busy with other stuff too; DIY, decorating, building extensions, new jobs, holidays, honeymoons, engagements, growing and birthing younglings, running marathons etc. and it’d be kool to hear about what you’ve been up to. That’s not added in there to check if you’ve read this far, but I genuinely like to hear what others have been up to. So yeah, holler back with a few updates of your own. I reeeeeeally need to get around to finishing and starting some DIY projects that I have hanging over my head, that never seem to quite hit the top of my priority list, so it won’t be hard to be more interesting than me!

It’s a wrap!

Probably time to wrap this one up, so I’d like to finish off by saying a huge thank you to everyone who had an epic wedding this year- thank you for being awesome. Thank you to those who have booked in with upcoming wedding days, we’re still treading the journey and holler anytime with questions as always. Big cheers to the ones who wandered around the outdoors with me on location shoots creating memories. And always a big hi5 and a virtual hug for the album orders; it’s why I do this- creating proper printed memories for families to have for a lifetime and beyond. Thank you.

Talking of which, I gotta crack on with some album designing, so I bid you Happy Christmas. Be excellent to one another, be rad and eat chocolate. Until next time…
